Two women meet at an art opening talking about everything — except themselves.

synopsis

Two women meet at an art opening, talking about everything - except themselves. They avoid answering each others' questions: "What are you doing?" and "What do you do?" As a result, who they are without their jobs is exposed (pre occupation) - which doesn't seem like much. We never find out who does what at the end and leave it to the audience to figure out if that really matters.

directors statement

Millennials, now aged into their late 20s and 30s, are reported to be the poorest and most educated generation in American history. "pre occupation" creates a space to evaluate our negotiations between our time and our work (preoccupation) and who we are when we can't hide behind our work (pre occupation).
